Tom Phillips
President & CEO

Tom has been a media and technology innovator for over twenty years. He co-founded Spy magazine in 1986, and served as President and Publisher during its five years as one of the most celebrated media properties in New York. Tom was a member of the original management team of Starwave Corporation in 1993, where he led the teams that developed ESPN.com, NBA.com, NFL.com, Ticketmaster.com, ABCNews.com, and the first family of vertical Internet media properties. He became CEO of Deja.com in 1998, and sold that company to Google and eBay in 2001. In March of 2006, Tom joined Google's North American Sales Organization. He served stints as Director of Print Ads, Director of Media Platforms and Director of the DoubleClick integration, before establishing the Search & Analytics team to pioneer new uses for Google data on behalf of major advertising clients. Tom holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and a M.B.A. from Stanford University.

Andrew Pancer
COO

Before joining Media6°, Andrew spent a number of years in senior positions at several leading Internet and media companies. Most recently, he was the Vice President, Digital Development at the New York Times where he helped lead digital initiatives including setting investment strategy, directing M&A and integrating new acquisitions. Mr. Pancer was the COO of About.com from 2005 to 2007, where he helped drive significant growth for the company. Revenues and profits tripled, with revenues exceeding $100 million in 2007. Prior to his role as COO, Mr. Pancer was About.com’s Chief Financial Officer from 2002 to 2004. A resident of Tenafly, NJ, Mr. Pancer holds a BS in Business Administration from Washington University (St. Louis) and an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Kathy Leake
Chief Revenue Officer

Kathy is a Founder and the Chief Revenue Officer of Media6Degrees. Kathy
has 20 years of advertising experience on the agency side with 15 years
in interactive and 5 years in traditional. Prior to Media6Degrees, Kathy
was Global Vice President of Business Development at Agency.com. She was
responsible for generating 30-35% of the company’s top-line
revenue—driving revenue to offices globally: New York, San Francisco,
Chicago, Dallas, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Milan. Under her
leadership, the sales team brought in multiple top-tier clients and
consistently exceeded its sales targets.

Prior to Agency.com, Kathy worked at DDB Needham, Ogilvy & Mather
Prague, Chiat Day/TBWA and Red Sky Interactive.

Lewis Steckler
Director of Strategy and Business Development

Prior to Media6°, Lewis worked for Sony BMG, Bain & Company, Qtrax and Informatica in a variety of strategic and business development roles. Lewis is a passionate student of social psychology, social network theory, continental philosophy, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. His strategic, financial, partnership and negotiation skills support the successful application of social network theory to Internet advertising industry best practices. Lewis is a graduate of Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and worked at the Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, where he focused on Media and Entrepreneurship.

Alec Greenberg
Director, Media Operations

Alec is a seasoned advertising operations veteran with eight years in the online advertising space. Alec began his ad ops career with Monster Worldwide, where he helped to build the relocation portals Monstermoving.com and Moving.com. After Monster, Alec spent time at Bluestreak, the Feedroom, and aCerno where he directed the team responsible for managing hundreds of campaigns across dozens of top-tier media relationships. At Media6°, Alec works with clients to optimize campaign to meet their marketing goals. Alec is a graduate of Purchase College with a BA degree in Arts Management.

Lauren Crane
Director of Account Management

Lauren brings a solid track record of account management expertise to Media6Degrees. After starting her career at Vendare Media, she moved to the Family Education Network where she managed New York clients and agencies and their online marketing initiatives. As a senior account manager at Mediaplex, Lauren managed and grew a book of strategic business in the ad serving technology space. At Media6Degrees, she oversees the account management team to ensure outstanding customer service, streamline processes for campaign life cycles (execution to analysis), discover growth opportunities and drive ROI and eCPA results for clients.

Rod Hook
CTO

Rod is an expert in the technology supporting the online advertising ecosystem. He has over a dozen years experience designing and scaling several of the largest digital marketing platforms ever built. An early open source advocate in the corporate environment, Rod has a record of architecting technical solutions for complex, extremely high volume, mission critical functions using open source technology and commodity hardware. Prior to joining Media6Degrees Rod was CTO of AdModus, an advertising platform (sold to Connexus in 2007) engineered to maximize publisher yields through semantic analysis, contextual and behavioral targeting data. Rod is a contributor to a number of US Patents applications and is a co-author of a paper entitled "Audience Selection for On-line Brand Advertising: Privacy-friendly Social Network Targeting" which was presented in the summer of 2009 at the KDD, the leading data mining conference in the world. Rod holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.

Brian May
Director of Software Development

Brian brings over 24 years of software development experience and more than 10 years of experience managing software development teams to his position as Director of Development at Media6°.  An industry veteran, he began his career in the early 1980s developing applications using dbase II on an IBM PC with dual floppy drives. Since then he has filled a number of roles including lead/principal engineer, architect, project manager and team manager for a number of companies in various industries including finance (Putnam Investments, State Street Bank), health care (Harvard Community Health Plan, MedSafe), telecommunications (IBM RealCom, Contel Office Communications), software (Elron Software, PCi Services) and online advertising (ContextWeb).

Prior to joining Media6°, Brian was with ContextWeb, Inc. where he managed the team responsible for developing the Selling and Buying desks of the ADSDAQ exchange and was lead architect on both projects.

Brian holds a BA in Literature from Simon’s Rock College.

Brian Dalessandro
Director - Data Mining and Statistical Analysis

Brian comes to Media6degrees with over 10 years of modeling experience across a variety of domains. He began his career modeling subatomic particle decays in the high-energy physics lab of Rutgers University and transitioned to the business world to work as a statistician for major brands, including TV Guide, American Express and Meetup.com. Brian's intellectual passions converge at Media6degrees, where sociology, statistics and network science meet. Brian holds a B.A. in both Mathematics and French Literature from Rutgers University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Statistics from New York University.

Tiffany Sumner
Marketing Manager

Tiffany brings expertise in digital marketing, publishing and communications to Media6Degrees. Prior to joining the company, she worked for major brands such as The New Yorker, ContextWeb (founder of the ADSDAQ Exchange) and Nature Publishing Group. At Media6Degrees, she leads the effort to establish the company as a thought leader in the social targeting arena. Tiffany holds a B.A. in English from Virginia Commonwealth University and a M.S. in Publishing from New York University. She has been published in The Virginia Living Magazine, The Linus Report, Media Post and on imediaconnection.com.
